Stick Out Your Tongue And Board The Plane
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We try a viral cortisol tip that sounds ridiculous but feels oddly calming, then we pivot into the Airport Theory as a blunt way to think about timing, opportunity, and the choices we keep delaying. We talk through overthinking, turbulence in entrepreneurship, and why accountability and the people around us often decide whether we move or stay stuck.
• the 40-second tongue extension trick and why it may reduce stress and neck tension
• why “opportunities have a departure time” hits so hard in business decisions
• overthinking versus taking the leap and learning fast
• choosing a destination instead of hopping on any plane
• delays, cancellations, and unrealistic timelines in entrepreneurship
• skydiving as a risky but useful analogy for commitment and preparation
• faith and control when you are not the one “flying the plane”
• accountability groups, reporting back, and building momentum with community
• the power of five and how your circle shapes your outcomes
Everyone tell us what your airport theory is and what you're doing in your business.

The 40-Second Tongue Stress Hack
AdrianneWe just want to share with our audience how they reduce their cortisol, the new that you just shared with us.
Kerri AnnSo do I start now or is this the start where you guys are making fun of me? No start. Oh, okay. I didn't know if we were keeping that in too. Okay. So I came in to my best friends to tell them something wonderful because it is tip, and I tried it twice. So I don't know. So it's a proven method. So yes, it was on Instagram. And a neural okay, here we go. So this is a tip because of cortisol. That is a huge thing that we talk about a lot is the cortisol levels. So a neurologist said stick out your tongue for 40 seconds. You have to stick it out, not just a little, like a big stick out. And this removes the cortisol faster than pills and breathing exercises. So it said a neurologist made her patient stick out his tongue for 40 seconds. He thought that she was joking. Two weeks later, his cortisol dropped almost in half with no medication change or no, what is the cortisol blocker that I take? So none of that. So when you stick out your tongue extremely I'm not doing it, go ahead. This is your body's main relaxation highway, which runs through this tension zone. Compress it stuck in flight or flight, fight or flight, even while sleeping. So the tongue connects the high hide bone, which anchors your primary neck tension muscle. Full extension creates mechanical distraction, forcing them to lengthen and decompress the vagus nerve pathway. So I know it sounds silly, but I'm we're trying to figure out ways to lessen cortisol, sleep better, not feel like overwhelmed without taking more stuff. So I did it last night, and I told you guys I had to lay and hide my tongue because I didn't want my husband to see what I was doing. And then I did it this morning. So I'm gonna do it every night and every day, and then I'm gonna report back. But who told you twice a day? It says on here, it says, yes, it says you have to do it for 40 seconds and not a fast 40 seconds. And the ex the exact method is extend the tongue fully, hold for 40 seconds, and it says to do at least every morning, but they say for better results, you do it in the evening and in the morning. So what happens day one through three, immediate post-exercise relaxation fades within hours. Days four to ten, morning tension releases, days 11 to 20, sweet sleep quality improves, days 21 to 30, baseline exit anxiety lowers. I can't even talk. After 30 days, body begins self-regulating cortisol without a conscious effort.
AdrianneSo by day 11, you'll be able to tell us if you're sleeping better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. And if you consistently do it and you feel amazing. Yes, I'm reporting back. You will report back to our audience.
Kerri AnnI am.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
Kerri AnnYes. And you have to do it consistently. Okay, twice a day. In the morning, stick out your tongue extremely count to 40 and do it before you go to bed. Okay. Yes. On it. Yes. We got you. And we don't have to add any more meds or anything. Why not? That would be good. I mean, I'm like running out of pillbox. Well, I will tell you, well, I'm gonna tell you, when I stick out uh stuck out my tongue for 40 seconds and timed it, if when you're when you put your tongue back in your mouth, you definitely feel relaxed in your neck. Like stick out your tongue for 40 seconds and see how it feels. I mean, not right this second. All right, anyway.
AdrianneAll right. Thank you for that. Yes. You're welcome. Stay tuned for more tips on your health from us. All right.
Airport Theory And Missed Chances
AdrianneWe are back for another episode. And this one will be an interesting one because Carrie Ann U had found this reel and sent it to us. And it was called it's called the Airport Theory. So on this video, it said, here's what the airport theory really means. Opportunities have a departure time. They don't wait for you. That client who wants to start now, they'll go with someone else if you hesitate too long. That partnership on the table, it'll move forward without you if you keep weighing the pros and cons. The launch you're postponing until you're completely ready. The timing will pass at the moment and it will be gone. And you'll be left at the airport staring at planes taking off. And I think the theory on the airport theory was planes are going to come and go no matter what, whether you're on it or you're off of it. And I feel like that is a good theory in business of when we're trying to make decisions. So what drew you to this wheel?
Kerri AnnA lot of it had to do with the like opportunity. Because I think there are times when I make decisions, whether that's for business or even in life. And I sometimes Brian will say that I overthink things. And I'm always looking back and going, okay, did I jump too soon? Did I do it too soon? Or did I not do it soon enough? And so that I just gravitated towards that story because I'm like, you know, at the end of the day, sometimes you have an opportunity, and if you don't take it, then sometimes I have beat myself up about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
Kerri AnnBut there's always going to be another opportunity. Just like at an airport, planes are coming and going, and they're going all over the place. They're, you know, destinations everywhere. So I guess it just kind of I've told you guys, like I need to master the art of the pause. Yeah. And like, where am I going? Like, what plane am I going to jump on and be like, hey, let's just see where this goes. And what plane am I going to jump on that I made the decision to do that? So it just I just when you're standing in an airport, you just are seeing planes and people and things going constantly.
LeannaSo I think though you have to know where you where you want to go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
LeannaRight? Because if you're just willing to jump on any plane, it could take you somewhere you don't want to go. I I in can the consulting world and honestly, even when I had the other company, I saw so many people that had amazing opportunities right in front of them, and they were afraid to take that step. They knew that that was the destination that they wanted to get to, but they talked themselves out of being ready. Oh, I need to have this one funnel ready. No, you don't. You have people coming to you right now that want to use you today. Oh, well, I don't know. I'm I'm worried about, you know what I mean? And that to me, when I heard it, I was thinking like that is that plane taking off. They're not worried about why you're not there. Someone else is gonna fill that seat.
Kerri AnnRight. They mean you're not there. They're like, okay, yeah, no, nobody's in that seat. We're going.
LeannaOr they give your seat to someone else, someone who did show up.
AdrianneRight. That's kind of how I took it. Yeah. It was like if you're thinking about, I know there's things like I'm always like, okay, I'm gonna do this, I need to get this, and then a year goes by. And I'm like, oh, okay, I didn't do that. Well, I'm gonna do it this year. And then I'll see someone else who's done something that I want was wanting to do. And I'm like, dang, why did you not do that? You could have been done by now had you, you know, not gotten your own way.
Kerri AnnWell, and I even took it one step further to think, like, okay, I jumped on a plane and then I went somewhere, and I'm like, oh crap, this isn't where I wanted to go. But I learned. Yeah, I had an adventure, I learned, and then what am I gonna do from there? Yeah. Jump on another plane. Like it's just one of those things where you just don't stop living. Like, keep keep the planes flying in your life, no matter how old you are or what you're doing. Just just keep the movement going. And now have I jumped on planes where I have to really, really sit there for a little bit because there's no plane coming back right away. Absolutely. We fly. You guys have sat on floors and watched me have nervous breakdowns about those choices.
AdrianneI think all of us though have those times. I mean, like Terry, a lot of times with me, will be like, Don't, you're jumping on way too many planes because my brain will be like, I want to do this, I want to do that. And then the true things that I really do want to work on, I think I talk myself out. I'm like, gosh, that's gonna take this and this and this, or I have to find someone. And then in my own head, I get so overwhelmed with it that I'm like a it gets shut down in a compartment. Like, okay, we'll talk about that later. And then I'll bring it back. And so I know because it's in my mind, like it needs to be done. I just taking the leap to make it happen.
Kerri AnnHave you ever gone to the airport where you're going on a plane and you're just sitting there going, hmm, and you're watching the other people go on a plane somewhere that looks better amazing. You're like, I want to go on that plane. Yeah, typically anywhere that includes a beach. Yeah. But then you know you have to do that ride. Yeah. Because it's part of getting to the next plane ride, which is to the beach. Yeah, a hundred percent.
AdrianneSo, what as we throw these out on your consulting brain, what are steps that you tell people when they're stuck? Like what do you tell them to do to get over that like get on the plane?
Getting Unstuck With Accountability
LeannaWell, you know, I have this little accountability collective. That honestly, the thing is is that people know what they need to do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
LeannaThe business owners I work with are brilliant, brilliant people. They know, like you said, I know what it's gonna take. I have to do this, this, this, this, and this, right? They know what they need to do. It's just that person that goes, hey, I know you said you want to go to the beach, but why are you packing for a snowstorm? Like, because that's not where you want to go, right? And it's in having those honestly, those call-out moments, which is like, hey, I know you said you want to do this, but everything you're doing is gonna lead you somewhere else. And I think once people feel called out for and not in a bad way, right? In in a very loving way, they self-correct very quickly, right? Like every Friday, and I've got my call here in just a little bit, we meet with everybody and we talk about the biggest wins. And last week, two people's biggest wins was for the first time in a long time, I've been motivated because I knew I had to come and report back, right? Like that's super powerful. Just being aware of what plane you're about to get on.
Kerri AnnWell, nobody just ends up at the airport, like everybody at the airport that's waiting for a plane planned to get there.
LeannaYeah.
Kerri AnnIt's just what was your plan?
Delays Turbulence And Business Timelines
LeannaAnd if if a plane, if you know, I'm thinking about back when we were in Myrtle, right? We had a layover and we thought, oh, here's another plane that we can get on that leaves faster and it's gonna get us there faster, right? So we go up to the gate and we're like, can we please switch? And she was like, sure. So we're like super excited, it's gonna get us there an hour early, and we're there, and we're talking about, okay, now we can do this and this and this, right? And then they were like, hey, this flight's delayed. And we were like, what? We ended up leaving, I'm pretty sure, at the exact same time. We did, because we landed, and the plane that we should have been on literally landed right behind us. So we thought sometimes we take shortcuts, what we think is gonna be a shortcut or a faster layover. Yeah. And then we did, we were like, is this flight gonna get canceled? Like, what are we doing? You know, and life does throw us cancellations or delays. And when you weren't focused on or you weren't planning for that, and I think that's where a lot of people get tripped up too, is when there is a delay and you think, okay, as long as I do these five steps, the clients are gonna come. If I do these two things, then the income's gonna come. Whatever it is that you want or need, you think it's gonna come, and then when it doesn't, people panic. You know, I did all these things, but sometimes, you know, like if you say that you're looking at someone who started a year ago or you had the idea a year ago, you don't you don't build in that time that it takes to grow or to travel, right? You know you're starting here and you're gonna end up there, but you don't think about how long it's gonna be before you get to that destination.
Kerri AnnAnd you also don't know is it gonna be a bumpy ride?
AdrianneI feel like all entrepreneurship's a bumpy ride.
Kerri AnnI think life is. Yes. Because I mean, even with the airport theory, it makes me think of relationships and friendships and growing up kids and like to me, it's like you're you're standing in the middle of an airport and you're deciding, you know, what plane am I gonna get on? Am I gonna get on one? Am I gonna just go have a cocktail and sit back and watch everybody else get on the plane? Yeah. Like what does that look like?
Skydiving Stories And Risk Reality
AdrianneYeah. I feel like when I picture the airport theory too, and it could just be me, but part of it for me is exciting because I one, I love to do new things because I get bored, but I also picture like jumping out of a plane. Like this could be exciting, like the shoot's gonna open or it's not gonna open. But we're gonna find out what happens. You only have to do that one time to never want to do that again.
LeannaI've done it. Have you done it? Yes, yeah. I have to do it again.
AdrianneYeah, I did it as a team event for uh when I was in charge of team events at IBM. And I don't and you did it too? Yeah, we get Brian and Caden and I did it.
LeannaWow. I'm not sure. And I don't ever have to do it again. I feel like you're way too like logical and you're like, no, I'm smart enough to do that.
Kerri AnnSee the picture of me hanging out the door, I'm praying. I look like I'm praying to God. Oh goodness. Yes. And Brian waited for me and Caden to get out because he was like, I need to make sure to watch over these guys. Yeah. Yeah.
AdrianneMy first shoot didn't open. And so you know when they take you through the classes to learn how to twirl right so that you can undo one and then you pull your emergency.
SPEAKER_05No, I didn't have the pulling.
Kerri AnnI just signed a whole bunch of out of a plane all by yourself with nobody on your back.
AdrianneNo, I had some on my back, but we had to go through the classes of what you do, and I had to pull the emergency straight. Yeah, because our first chute didn't open right. And then he was like, pull the string. And then I was like, Thank God I paid attention in this class. And then I got I had to pull the emergency string, and then the first shoot disappears, and then the next one opened.
Kerri AnnAnd then we were like, You know, for a second she was so excited. She's like, Oh, I might die. This is kind of cool.
SPEAKER_05No, absolutely not. Adrenaline rush. Okay, let's fix this.
LeannaNo, I didn't get a class. I literally signed a whole bunch of paperwork. And then some guy was like, hey, I'm gonna strap on to you.
SPEAKER_05Okay, you're a turtle.
LeannaYep.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
AdrianneYeah, no. Yeah, we had a class. I think it was 30 minutes. And while we were doing that class, you were watching who was packing your shoot. I feel like that's a good business analogy too, because they were very young kids packing the shoots. And while I was listening, I was like, gosh, they're awfully young to pack these, you know, shoots. But I'm like, hey, you know, they do this all the time. And you know, I did sign the waiver saying I get you.
SPEAKER_05And then the waivers so you don't sue them if you die. It's not like everything's so safe. You're signed this.
AdrianneYeah, so like in life, you know, sometimes you have you pay attention to people you shouldn't pay attention to, and then you're like, oh, should have watched that a little closer. Good Lord.
LeannaHow in the world have we made it as far as we have in this? I have no idea.
Kerri AnnI have no idea. I don't know. But I do I, you know, I also get very excited when I go to the airport because we're doing something. So I think at all these different levels, like I just look at the airport theory as life. Yeah, like you you choose how you're gonna live it. And when my husband hears this, I'm gonna get it such a lecture after. Because he says that, which is true. I say things that I'm thinking in my head, but it doesn't necessarily give my life that direction.
AdrianneYou're on your road to that direction.
Kerri AnnI'm on my I have the realization of the things that I need to work on. Just listen to all the podcasts. There's a list. Yeah. But I just, you know, like the airport is life. Like you're stepping in there, you don't just go in there to hang out. You know you're gonna be doing something. What is it you're gonna be doing? Where are you going? And you know, have fun doing it. And if it's wrong, it's wrong. Then just on another plane, yeah.
LeannaBut that's say there's always another plane. So yeah, you get off at the wrong destination, you just turn around and go back, or you find that okay, I didn't think I wanted to go here, but look at how amazing it is here.
SPEAKER_05And sometimes you stand in the middle of the airport and just need a moment to absorb whatever has happened to make the next step. Or sit at the bar.
unknownYeah.
LeannaBut yeah, and I love that I I love the idea of like the turbulence. Like you don't, you know, when you get started, you don't know what kind of ride it's gonna be. I love it when they come on and they tell you. As long as they tell me that it's happening first, I'm okay. Right? Because I'm like, okay, they know, so it's planned, but there's nothing worse to me than that, like they don't tell you, but that's life all the time. Sometimes someone's gone before you, and like, hey, it's gonna be a little bumpy, especially with business ownership, right? First couple years, you're gonna get it handed to you, and then you it smooths out for a while, and you think, Oh, okay, I'm good now. And all of a sudden the bottom drops out, and you're like, oh, wait, hold on, you know, and then it smooths out again.
Faith When You Are Not Flying
Kerri AnnAnd and don't you have to have a lot of faith? Because at the end of the day, you are not flying the plane. You don't even really barely see who's flying the plane. Yeah. And we don't know what kind of day they had or what they're doing, or all of it together. Yeah. And so you have to sit down and just have faith that we're gonna get there safely.
AdrianneYeah, that's scary. I just feel like if they're on the plane, I'm okay. Like if they're willing to get in that plane and fly, like when we had mechanical issues on a plane, and the pilot was sitting right next to me, and then he was like, Yeah, they'll fix it. And I was like, hey, if the pilot's getting on, we're fine. So I don't know why. I'm just like, everything in faith, like faith, I have faith that if you're gonna get on, you don't want to die, so I'm not gonna die. And so I don't know. I feel like that in business too. I just have faith, like something it's all gonna work out. I don't care. Sometimes the valley is very low, and I like to like have conversations with the Lord that I've been in a valley a long time, and you know, I'm feel like I've missed a lesson that he's trying to teach me, and I've yet to listen. And uh, so I'd like to get out of the valley, but I feel like I don't know, in entrepreneurship, you're gonna have to have faith no matter what, because the ride is wild.
LeannaI think in life in general, the second you find a higher power, right, and you have that faith, everything you still get the turbulence, you still get the valleys, you still get the mountains, you still get all of that. But then when you know in that way, you do know who the pilot is, right? Like, and then you know, okay, he's never crashed before, so we should be okay.
Kerri AnnSometimes you're like, wait, did you forget to get on this plane?
AdrianneYou know, there's people back here, right? It's a little bumpy. He's just testing that faith. He's like, Faith is mustard seed, is it there? Let me just drop the plane a little bit.
Kerri AnnAnd don't lean the chair back because everybody will be upset at you.
The Power Of Rooms That Push You
AdrianneThat's not allowed. And I'm I'm gonna circle back before you know we wrap up to when you're talking about, you know, your group. I do think, you know, for anyone in business, I think accountability is so important because I feel like more people, like even with us, we're accountable, you know, with each other too. And I feel like when you're trying to do something, in your mind there's a thousand ways to make it that it's not gonna work. But when you talk it out to other people and then someone's like, oh, well, that's simple. I know someone who can help with this or do, and then all of a sudden, what maybe you've been holding back for a year, like the clouds open and you're like, oh, well, I can make that happen. But you wouldn't do that just staying in your own head and not being around other business owners who are, you know, also trying to figure out what to do.
LeannaNo, a hundred percent. I think that that really is the biggest growth that we're seeing is because people are in rooms with other people who have great ideas. And and there are several instances already where someone's like, oh, I have a guy that does that. Oh, I know someone, or you just encourage each other, right? Like you hear on Monday, my goal is to do, you know, I've got an event, I'm really worried about it, you know. On Friday, it's the event was amazing, and now you don't you're not keeping that inside. You now have, you know, I think on Friday there were 15 people on the call that were like, this is so awesome, I'm so excited. Or as soon as they got on the call, people were like, how was your event? You know, and to have other people excited for you, knowing that you guys are all in it together, right? That just changes the narrative because I think we get stuck in our heads, who am I to try and do this? Or man, I'm gonna do it. Does anyone even care? You know, like, and to to have not only like obviously I'm facilitating it, but to what I'm creating is is an amazing group of people who want to celebrate and encourage each other. And I got a little emotional. We know that I'm not the emotional one, right? But on Friday, I remember I hung up off the call and I just I was so emotional because to watch these people feel seen, heard, and validated by not just me, like who am I, whatever, right? But an entire group of people championing. Championing?
Kerri AnnYou got it.
LeannaIs that it? One another. Yeah. Everybody should have that. Whether, and you don't have to, you know, it doesn't have to be through, you know, working with me, obviously, but groups of friends or other business owners, you know, we talk, you talk all the time about like show me who you go with, I'll show you who you are. We've learned the power of five. The five people you hang out with most is who you become like. So are you are you at the airport with people who are excited to get on that flight? Are you, you know, with people who are making sure that your bags are packed and that your parachute is good? Or are you with people that are just like wandering around and hope that they land somewhere?
AdrianneRight?
LeannaYeah.
AdrianneSo I love it. I love hearing like other women who are succeeding and getting that excitement back. Yes, you know, because I feel like you can get where the plane is so turbulent, you get lost. Yeah. And you forget where you're going and the happiness and that the the end result will be. But when you're around other people and you start seeing that, I love it. Well, everyone tell us what your airport theory is and what you're doing in your business.
Share Your Theory And Wrap
