Dreaming big sounds cute until you’re the one juggling kids, marriage, and the daily grind and then you look up and realize you’ve been living on autopilot. We’re breaking that pattern with a real, slightly salty chat about vision boards, long-term goal setting, and what it looks like to plan a future on purpose, not by accident. If you’ve ever wondered why you feel stuck even though you’re doing “all the right things,” this one hits.
We talk about the weird magic of finding an old vision board and realizing almost everything on it actually happened, plus why that moment can be equal parts inspiring and convicting. Adrianne shares a simple tradition: a raggedy, 20-year journal she and her husband pack for trips once or twice a year to map out big dreams, big prayers, and the plans that feel impossible at the time. Kerri Ann gets real about learning to pause, celebrate hard-won milestones, and admit a new kind of dream: doing less, being present, and still making room for something bold like citizenship and a future place in Italy.
We also dig into mindset and the power of words, because dreaming isn’t just wishful thinking. It’s clarity, direction, and choosing what you want to create, whether you’re building a business, navigating an empty-nest season, or trying to remember what you even want anymore. If this conversation sparks something, share it with a friend who needs permission to dream again, then subscribe, leave a review, and tell us your biggest dream right now.

Why We Still Need Big Dreams
AdrianneAll right, welcome back to another episode. And today's episode is just about dreaming big and dreaming for our future. And the reason I thought about this topic was I keep a vision board. And on that vision board, it just makes me think about things. And then when I look back at those vision boards, so I keep all of the ones I've done. And when I look at ones that were maybe four years ago, and then I think, wow, that really did happen. Or something that didn't happen. Oh, yeah. You know, maybe I'm still need to work on it, but maybe I forgot about it because I, you know, I didn't add it to my next vision board. So I just thought about like we're in a phase of life that as we grow businesses, but we're also, you know, out on our own again with the kids growing up. And like, what is our future dreams? Or how do you take time to think about that? And is it just you, you and your spouse? Like, what are things that we do?
A Couple Vision Board Comes True
LeannaWe had, so when Jeff and I first got together, we made a vision board. He thought I was crazy. So we just went all out. Like it was over the top at the time. We were like, this is never gonna happen, but hey, let's put this on here. And hey, why not let's add that? And we found it right after we moved to Arizona, and almost every single thing on that vision board. Every single and we'd only literally we did it that one afternoon, and then I had it on the wallpaper, like either on my phone or on the computer or something, but we never really you don't really ever look at that. And it was amazing. We've done another one just recently, but we're not super like we don't dream every year. We always say we're going to, but then we don't. I don't know.
Kerri AnnI know you guys that's kind of cool, isn't it? Isn't it cool to find it? What a gift.
LeannaYeah, literally our backyard, our pool, like everything was it's like with the sliding, we had the big sliding glass doors, and we never thought in a million years. And sure enough, we saw it and I was like, look at our life. And then it just the weight of how powerful that was. You would think that we would forever be constantly dreaming, but we're like, oh no, that's cool, and we did it again.
The Raggedy Dream Journal Tradition
AdrianneAnd so I love that. Like that's what Terry and I, we don't I do vision boards business-wise and personal, not as a couple, but we have a journal that we've had for over 20 years, and at least twice a year we will go out of town and then we will map out like what our big dreams are, or big prayers, or things where you're like, this isn't gonna be possible. Yeah. And I want to say that my favorite thing on it is like when I will look back and be like, what did we ask for in 2005? And I'll flip back and then it'll be like I can see like where we were praying for the kids and like the right thing in foster and like when we'd have a second house, like it's it's cool to see. Like, I feel like sometimes we set intentions and direction we want, but we're so busy on to the next thing, the next thing that like we forget the things we asked for happened. Yeah, you know, and then if they didn't happen, sometimes I'll read I'm like, Oh, good thing that didn't happen. Like, why was I asking for that? But I feel like it's a cool way of just mapping out dreams together. Yeah. And and then I was like, then I have like my individu my in individual ones. But like as a husband and wife, I love that journal. And every time we go anywhere, he'll be like, Did you grab the book? And it is all raggedy because we've had it for so long. I mean, it's probably 20 years old. It's so raggedy and old. I'm like, I got it, and then we're almost out of pages on it. I'm like, Oh, we're gonna have to move to another book because we've had the same one forever. Yeah, but yeah, it's at least once or twice a year, it comes with us, and then we just write out stuff, what we want, what we think. And yeah, it's a cool little thing.
Pausing To Notice Life Happening
Kerri AnnDo you guys we we are not Brian is not a vision boarder. He, you know, my husband is very he's got the ideas of all the things that he wants in his head for us, and he's very verbal about it. We just we're we're very different in that way. I kind of tend to be a little more reserved in things, but I just think that's been our life. Like when we first got together, I do see the things that we talked about and what we wanted to achieve and we have. I just also know that again, I am getting better at pausing and seeing, you know, taking a moment because like all the things I wanted for the boys, you know, like for them to graduate college was just something that, you know, since the time they were little and all the challenges and all the things we had been through, all the doctors that said, no, this is not like just all the stuff that like there wasn't time. It was just continually moving along to have to reach that dream. And we were, and I had to, I had to pause for each of them to live in that moment of like we did this, and then Brian and I getting together, and just through no matter what we have done, we knew we wanted to stay together, we knew we wanted to create a family and move forward, and you know, now I feel like we're in the stage of, and maybe again, this is me, where I'm learning that I need to I cannot buy time.
LeannaYeah.
Kerri AnnAnd I'm living in the space of realizing that my dream is to potentially do less, live in the moment, and really be in that space of going, okay, what is it that we want, that I want? What because I do think in life sometimes you lose dreaming. You're just doing everyday things.
LeannaYeah.
The Italy Plan And Wine Life
Kerri AnnI will tell you that I am dead set on having something in Italy that we fix up and have a space and have a little apartment or have something in Italy that's ours. And so me getting my citizenship because of my lineage is like on that's almost like step one. But then when Brian looked at it, he's like, You realize how much work I'm gonna have to do. I'm like, Yeah, because it's only gonna cost us a couple hundred dollars for a villa.
LeannaI have been on Jeff to do that.
Kerri AnnAnd so, yeah, I mean, you know, like that's the kind of thing that I'm like, yes, that's like that's on my dream board. That's on Carrie Ann's dream brain to just have a space there that we create that's in another country, and I get to walk around town and say hi to my friends and buy bread and have you guys come and drink wine. And I would love that. Yeah.
AdrianneAnd I feel like all the hard work you're doing at your businesses, like that's a that's an amazing goal to get to. You know, like it's all worth it in the end that you're gonna be walking down the street with the wine. I feel like when we were neighbors, so I can picture you like walking with like your bottle of wine, like to the neighbor, like, hi, would you like a drink with me? Just down the street from Power Ranch. Do you want to be my friend?
LeannaHave wine and two glasses. That's what you started with. Yes. That's awesome.
Kerri AnnYes. I she didn't realize that you can sit in your driveway and watch your kids very purposefully and wonderfully and enjoy them. But if you have a glass of wine in your hand and a friend, it makes it so much more fun.
AdrianneThat's awesome. Kids run around, you're like, you're fine.
Kerri AnnEverything's good.
AdrianneLick it.
Kerri AnnGo wipe it off with the hose and move along. You're fine.
Voice OverThat's awesome. That's awesome.
The Power Of Words And Mindset
Kerri AnnI just think we just yeah. Sometimes we forget to dream. Yeah. Sometimes we forget to do those things. Or it feels hard. Yeah, it does. Or it feels like it's just never gonna happen.
LeannaYeah.
AdrianneOr we think too small. I feel like we think too small. I don't know. I used to be like a smaller dreamer. And then I got to like listening about big dreams and big ask and go for it with the Lord. And I feel like I'm a bigger dreamer and I ask for sometimes I'm like, this sounds crazy, but I'm going for it because it's what I want.
unknownYes.
Kerri AnnBut there's something to be said for like that intentional thinking forward and all that. Like you said, like you guys had to talk about it, and then, you know, that's why I'm so c careful about what I say. Because if I'm in an Aunri spicy space and I say something, I immediately like, oh God, I didn't mean to say that. Take it back. I'm sending it out lovingly. That was just a bad thought. That isn't what I want. Because you just don't know.
LeannaI'm learning the power of our words. Yes. Right? They speak life or they speak death. And that's something that I'm becoming very intentional about.
AdrianneYes.
LeannaAnd even with dreams, I think it's what do you want to create? And are you in the right space to create? Right? Are you in a mindset of abundance or are you like just trying to create something to get to the next day? You know? Right. So I don't know. My husband probably thinks I'm too big of a dreamer.
AdrianneBut no, you're just perfect. Did you hear that, Jeff?
Kerri AnnPerfect.
AdrianneI love it.
